Lollipop.. You all must like it! Those super sweet and tasty sugar candies… leaving colors of our choice on our tongue, we all miss those days when we used to have them a lot. So, why am I even talking about Lollipops in my first ever blog…?? Hmm.. let’s find out.

I am sitting in my room on my bed going through a lecture on leadership, looking for that magical recipe that many people think leaders have. So did I get all that recipe? Am I here to share those with you? Yes, indeed I did. Let’s find out what it is.

I found that the leadership means to take initiatives to make a positive change right around us, from the place where you are sitting. Look around yourself, is there anything that is not good? Or something that is out of order? Can you fix it? Are you willing to fix it? If yes, believe me you have a wonderful opportunity to be what is called a leader!

So, get up now and take an initiative to clean your closet, declutter your bed, pick that empty bottle of water and put it in the trash bin on your way to your class, water the plant that you see dry around you. You just made a change, a change that will affect the life of others, so you are a leader now!

I practiced this myself today, starting from the bed I was sitting on. It was really messy like I have been jumping on it all day, but believe me I wasn’t :D

It is time to do “Amal”. I set everything properly and put where it belongs to. From setting the north to south rotated bed sheet to putting the notebook in the bag, I cleaned the room right away, Wa-Lah I did it.

Look at this place… It’s clean now and beautiful it is! That’s a positive change that I, you, we all just made. These little steps, initiatives and taking the responsibility makes us all the leaders. So have you taken your first step towards becoming a leader by bringing a positive change around yourself?

I was driven to take this step by the words of Drew Dudley and his story of lollipops. And the satisfaction and joy that it brought to me was as a 5 years old me enjoying a sweet multi color lollipop with all pleasure. I would have taken this step tomorrow morning before leaving for university before my mother finds my room ruined. That would have created a difficult situation for me :P

The sense of responsibility without being actually responsible for a task is what makes people different from others, when people take an initiative and lead without having all authority. So, today we all took responsibility to make things better around us, we took a small but mighty step that made us an agent of positive change…. A Leader.
